BLACK CANOPY
BLACK CANOPY
12/16/96
Walk across that line and tell me you’re the same
To answer is to deny, to question is a game
Still we got a name, that don’t mean that it is we
I know the same is what I’ll never be
And I call that black canopy
Eden ain’t your mind; it is what you’ll never know
Vines don’t reach the sun, don’t mean they shouldn’t grow
Waiting for the sun, next thing you know you’re burned
Shadows aren’t a waste, sometimes they are learned
And I call that black canopy
There is no Eden sun
